ゲストRDRAM (Rambus Dynamic Random-Access Memory) was designed to deliver high-speed data transfer for performance-focused systems. It gained attention in the late 1990s due to its innovative channel-based architecture.
Unlike traditional memory types, RDRAM used a narrow but very fast data bus. This allowed systems to handle intensive tasks like gaming and multimedia more efficiently at the time.
RDRAM required specific motherboards and often worked in paired modules, which increased system costs. Heat output was also higher, leading to the use of heat spreaders on modules.
Although RDRAM is now largely obsolete, its influence remains important. The technology pushed the industry toward faster memory solutions and helped shape modern RAM development.
